Reservations & Rates 2008

 

Update as of 4/29/08

We will be open for camping on an off-season basis beginning this Friday, May 2. The areas of Joe's Head, Lee Side Way, and Circle will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for $32/night. The dry toilets on Joe's Head as well as the showers and toilets at Comfort Cottage near the Circle will be open. The Store will not be open. Someone will come to your campsite in the morning to collect the camping fee.

We are currently processing mail and telephone requests for stays of any length of time. Almost 100% of our Ocean Prime and Prime sites are booked for the entire summer, but we still have Choice and Value sites available.

We still have plenty of sites available for Memorial Day (Choice and Value only).

Please don't try to make reservations by email; email is for cancellations only. Also, there is no need to send a deposit for reservations of less than a week.

 

We accept reservation requests for June 20 - Sept. 1, 2008 (Labor Day) and Memorial Day weekend in the following way:

  • January 2, 2008 .............. reservations by MAIL ONLY, for 7 days or longer and for Memorial and Labor Day weekends. We begin processing mail received prior to Jan. 1 on this date. Mail received after Jan. 1 will be processed in order by date of arrival.
  • February 1, 2008................... reservations by mail or phone, for 7 days or longer and for the Memorial and Labor Day weekends
  • March 3, 2008............... reservations by mail or phone for any length of time

Please note: Reservations made in January and February may not be shortened to less than 1 week. Memorial Day and Labor Day weekend reservations are made for the 3 days and are non-refundable.

To make a reservation by mail

Please send us the following information. If you would like to request more than one campsite, include this information FOR EACH CAMPSITE RESERVATION. Requests for multiple sites should be sent in the same envelope.

  1. name, address & phone number - one per campsite
  2. type of equipment used (tent, lg, med. or small pop-up, truck camper, van)
  3. number of adults and children *
  4. arrival and departure dates
  5. individual campsite requests
  6. whether or not you'd like us to choose a site for you if all of your requested sites are unavailable

* we allow up to 4 adults per campsite or 2 adults with children

For reservations made January – June for stays of a week (7 nights) or longer:

  • We require a deposit of $125 due within 15 days of the date the reservation is made.  A deposit is required for EACH SITE you reserve.
  • The deposit may be sent with your request or you may wait until you receive the bill.
  • If the deposit has not been received after 15 days, the reservation will be cancelled. 
  • Full payment is due within 30 days of the date the reservation is made.  If full payment has not been received by that time, your reservation will be cancelled; we will refund your deposit less a $25 administrative fee.
  • Once a reservation has been made, a bill will be sent to you.
    •  If you sent a $125 deposit with your reservation request, the balance due will be indicated on the bill and you will have 30 days to pay. 
    • If you did not send a deposit with your reservation request, $125 is due 2 weeks from the reservation date printed on your bill.
  • A confirmation will be sent to you when we receive the balance indicated on your bill, paid within 30 days of the reservation date.

For reservations for stays from 1-6 nights:

  • Full payment is due 15 days from the date the reservation was made or the reservation will be cancelled.
  • A confirmation will be sent to you when we receive your payment.

For all reservations:

  • If you decide to cancel your reservation before the 15 or 30 day due date, please contact us so we can offer the site to other campers.
  • We will not contact you prior to cancellation. 
  • You must be 21 years old to reserve a campsite.
  • Reservations for Memorial Day & Labor Day weekends are non-refundable and non-transferable to other dates.
  • You may not make a reservation for a site solely for the purpose of parking a vehicle.  Campsites are to be occupied by people. 

Payment may be made by check or money order. WE DO NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS. A confirmation letter will be sent after we receive your payment.

Cancellation policy

  • We require 7 days notice prior to your arrival date for a refund.
  • For stays of 7 or more nights:
    •  We will charge a cancellation fee of 25% of the total reservation cost; the rest will be refunded.
    • The cancellation fee for shortening your stay is 25% of the cost of the cancelled nights. 
    • January and February reservations may not be shortened to less than 7 nights.
  • For stays of 1-6 nights:
    •  We will charge a cancellation fee equal to the cost of the last night of your reservation; the rest will be refunded.
  • Each site reserved is considered a separate reservation.
  • To cancel a reservation, please call (207)443-2101, send us a letter, or email us at info@hermitisland.com    Note:  No transactions other than canceling a site will be processed by email.  You may not make another reservation request or get information on availability.

Off-season Camping

We do not accept reservations for the off-season, which runs prior to June 20, 2008 (except for the Memorial Day weekend) and after Sept. 1. We generally open for off-season camping around May 18. Please call (207)443-2101 to check.

  • First come, first served. There is no check-in time. Check-out by noon.
  • $32 for any site.
  • Pay at the store before heading up onto the island to choose a site.
  • Some areas of the campground may be closed off, depending on the numbers of campers. These areas include Harbor Grove, Branch, and most of the interior roads. All Ocean Prime and Prime sites are available, as well as many Choice sites.
  • Showers are still open.
  • The store is open, but the Kelp Shed, Gift Shop and Snack Bar are closed.
  • The off-season ends on Columbus Day.
